Government Bonds

Issued by national governments. Generally considered the safest type of bond.

Corporate Bonds

Issued by companies to raise capital. Higher yields but higher risk than government bonds.

Green Bonds

Earmarked for climate and environmental projects. Growing rapidly in Africa.

Sukuk (Islamic Bonds)

Sharia-compliant bonds that share profits rather than pay interest. Popular in North and West Africa.

Infrastructure Bonds

Specifically funding infrastructure projects. Often tax-advantaged.

Eurobonds

Bonds issued in a currency other than the issuer's home currency. Many African nations issue USD-denominated Eurobonds.
